Lathe Mounted Disk Sander
Made from 5/8” thick High-Density Polyethylene and supplied with a factory-mounted heavy-duty faceplate lathe ready, Ron Brown’s Best Lathe Mounted Disk Sanding attachment is stable and rigid. It is the ideal way to quickly sand your segmented rings dead flat. As with any disk sander, there are many more uses as well.
These 12" and 16” Pressure Sensitive Adhesive 80 Grit discs consist of Aluminum Oxide abrasive material that is bonded to a x-weight cloth backing. The resin bond is a strong bonding agent that keeps the Aluminum Oxide grains on the cloth backing while providing an element of heat and pressure resistance, extending the useful life of the disc.
The aluminum oxide grains offer a fast cut rate while still remaining economically priced. The X-weight cloth backing is much stronger than a paper alternative and will resist tearing. These PSA sanding discs can be used on a wide variety of materials including wood, ferrous alloys, and other metals. They are extremely versatile and can be used for sanding, medium grinding, deburring, blending, finishing, and polishing applications.
When the paper covering the adhesive is removed the disc should be pressed firmly onto the HDPE disk and mounted directly to your lathe spindle.
Note: The disks are about ¼” larger than the HDPE disks to allow for any misalignment when applying the disk. We recommend trimming flush to the HDPE with a box cutter or similar, but that is your discretion.
NOTICE: This is 80 grit industrial abrasive. If you touch it with your fingers or hands, injury will result. Be careful and use light pressure and a relatively slow RPM. Keep your fingers away from the moving abrasive and use a firm grasp. Protect your fingers and hands.
