This Hybrid technique combines a couple of other techniques and the newest
font I’ve published, “Scroll Saw Names” font, to make a Scroll Saw Name Puzzle.
1) Here is the process. You need a computer with the Scroll Saw Names font installed.
2) You need a printer – black only is fine.
3) You need a scroll saw.
4) You need some kind of contour (flap) sander.
5) You need clear packing tape. Steps

  • A. Type the name using fonts ranging from 90 points to 800 points with the average range from 160 to 200 points and print it. Be sure to apply the OUTLINE attribute to the font.
  • B. If you are using a shape template*, trace it onto the work piece first.
  • C. Apply clear packing tape to the wood FIRST, where you intend to place the name.
  • D. Glue the name onto the wood over the clear packing tape.
  • E. Drill all of the interior cuts and entry holes to begin the cutting process.
  • F. Cut the Template shape first.
  • G. Cut the interior spaces next (inside the A, B, D, O, P, Q, R, “&”)
  • H. Next Begin cutting the individual letters out starting with (usually) the last letter. Like this:
  • I. janice Drill a hole inside the waste
  • space in the “e” or “c”.
  • J. Cut out the “e” then the “c”, next “i” etc.
